Adaptation of Cecelia Ahern’s ‘Roar’ to star Nicole Kidman

By November 3, 2021Adaptations, News

Cecelia Ahern’s collection of short stories, Roar, is being adapted as a television series.

Eight, half-hour episodes will be created based on Ahern’s book of 30 short stories and will feature Nicole Kidman, Cynthia Erivo, Merritt Wever and Alison Brie.

Production of the series will become from Carly Mensch and Liz Flahive, who have written for Glow, Orange is the New Black, and Nurse Jackie.

The unique nature of Roar comes from its woman-driven stories where there occurs a moment of transformation for a female character in each of the tales. The book shows the reader the “sometimes comic, always moving look at the guilt, joys, humiliation and triumphs that define the modern woman’s experience, including the private moments when she feels the need to roar”.

Roar is being co-produced by Ahern’s Greenlight Go Productions and Kidman’s production company Blossom Films, in a deal with streaming service Apple TV+.

Release date is yet to be announced so we will let you know as soon as we hear any more news.
