Charles Darwin – Quotes from an Evolutionist

By February 12, 2016February 11th, 2018Authors, Quotations

On the 12th of February 1809 Charles Darwin was born; twenty two years later he was to set out on a journey on his ship The Beagle that would change how science viewed humanity and history. His book On the Origin of Species put forward compelling evidence for his theory of evolution and was the basis of an entirely new train of thought within the learned community.

Here we share several quotes from the great man to celebrate his birthday.

“If I had my life to live over again, I would have made a rule to read some poetry and listen to some music at least once every week.”

“A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life.”

“Great is the power of steady misrepresentation”

“The love for all living creatures is the most noble attribute of man.”

“The highest possible stage in moral culture is when we recognise that we ought to control our thoughts.”

“…ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge…”

“We stopped looking for monsters under our bed when we realized that they were inside us.”

And if we’re honest we think they’ll all be good for another 150 too!
