“Celtic mythology and an ancient Druid with modern attitude mix it up in the Arizona desert in this witty new fantasy series.”

NO MAJOR SPOILERS

This is a great modern fantasy. The druid Atticus O’Sullivan and his sidekick Oberon the wolfhound has a good and quiet life with his book- and teashop. But the peace is not to last (otherwise it would have been a short and boring book).

Being alive for over two thousand years can be great fun, but is also impossible not to get some enemies. And now one of the worst is coming for poor Atticus.

Fortunately, he has quite a few allies up his sleeve. However, the allies must also be handled with great caution, as they are not what one would call harmless. Warning; here there be gods and goddesses aplenty, vampires, werewolves and witches. And some talk about sausages.

This is a fast-paced and action-filled story, and packed with humor and fun references. I love the way Mr Hearne builds up his stories about Atticus and Oberon, and how he manages to spice up the plot with both good food, movie talk and a few sips of whiskey every now and then. The clever twists are both likely to make me laugh or make me almost bite my nails as I’m totally spellbound (pun intended) in whatever is happening. Comes highly recommended
