“A masterpiece. I can’t remember when I last read a book so uncompromising, fierce and emotionally vast.

This story takes place in India. It is the story of a powerful family, sibling rivalry and corruption. Defraj Bapuji is an extremely wealthy businessman with three children, all girls. Gargi is the eldest, than Radha and Sita, who is the youngest and apparent favorite.

There is another family involved here, Ranjit, a special advisor to Defraj who has to sons, Jeet and Jivan, who has just returned from a long stay in the USA with his mother. As soon as he returns, Defraj announces his retirement and this is when the family comes apart as Sita, the favorite, wants no part in operating the business and has left for parts unknown.

The two remaining sisters are now trying to be in charge and their Father is against them from the start. As for the sons or Ranjit, Jivan becomes immediately involved while Jeet also is missing.

The book is very slow at times and it took awhile for the main story to kick in. The story is a good one, and possibly a better job by the Editor would have helped.
