“A jaw-dropping and terrifying page-turner of the deep.”

NO MAJOR SPOILERS

An absolute gem of a ‘B-movie’ book.

A pre historic Megalodon has managed to survive for millions of years in the deepest part of the ocean, the Mariana Trench and it’s about to make a comeback….via a set of totally believable ‘mosquito in the amber’ circumstances.

Jonas Taylor, disgraced former deep sea submarine pilot and paleontologist, has specialised in Megalodon studies since he thought he saw one during a stint in the trench which ended in tragedy.

After losing his nerve and ending his piloting career he is pulled back into the water to help an old friend at which point the reader is propelled into the action and it doesn’t abate until the very last page! If you love sharks and don’t mind a fair bit of death and destruction, this is a highly enjoyable book.

There are plenty of parallel storylines running alongside the main story of Jonas and the Meg and they all tie nicely together in the end.

To be honest, it’s mostly pretty predictable, but that takes nothing from how enjoyable it is!
