The Sanctuary is a pretty spot on name for this stunning second hand bookshop. An absolute goldmine of second hand books shelved and piled up in every corner and no need to open a book to breathe in the old book scent, it envelopes you the moment you step inside.
I set myself a challenge to find a few old obscure books and found every one amongst the thousands of books. After a walk along the beach on a stormy, cold November evening the glowing shop window is beyond inviting and I wished I’d arrived earlier because there was so much to explore in the shop.
I didn’t realise at the time but the bookshop doubles up as a Bed and Breakfast! Cosy, reasonably priced rooms filled with yet more books right on the beautiful Dorset coast, what booklover could ask for more?! Paradise.
