For a while now I’ve been thinking about what fun it would be to run a book club via the For Reading Addicts Facebook page, but the page is simply huge and I fear we’d lose the discussions and it just wouldn’t work. However, we do now have the Cwts, our Facebook group and at almost 1,000 members, and the ability for everyone to comment with equal priority it seems the perfect place to launch The Cwts Club, the Reading Addicts book club.
Those who are already members of the group will know that throughout March we’ve been placing our votes for the first book to read and the clear winner is Paul Hawkins’ thriller, The Girl on the Train.

The Cwts Club may have changes over the first couple of months as I work out the intricacies of running a worldwide bookclub but the initial plan goes something like this.
- Book choice – members have all month to select their choice in a poll in the Cwts. I’ll start each month’s selections with second place from the previous month.
- Selection – At the end of the month, a blog post like this one letting everyone know the selected book.
- Reading – Each month the read starts proper on 1st, at this point I’ll also put up the post to select the following month’s read.
- Discussion – Mid month a discussion thread will be opened in the Cwts and tagged to the top to allow everyone to discuss the read.
- Review – One volunteer puts a review together based on all the thoughts in the discussion thread at the end of each month.
Then we just start again at step one. I’ll create a whole page under reading resources for the club then I’ll just add each month’s book selection as we go.
There’s no requirement to join The Cwts Club, or the Cwts Reading group, this is just something else we’re offering for fun. I have read Girl on the Train already, you can read my review here. I’ll probably join in the discussion thread when it’s open and I’ll put the review post together later in the month.

While Girl on a Train wad well written- it had a horrible effect on me. I got more depressed every day- kept feeling so sorry for “the girl on the train”. I finally donated my new book to our lubrary- was afraid all the other books in our home would be similarly affected by this very sad book.
