New Cameo Awards To Celebrate Books that Inspire TV and Film

By January 23, 2017Literary Awards, News, Television

With the revolution in television and streaming there have never been quite so many book to movie and book to television adaptation, and we book lovers couldn’t be happier. Now London Book & Screen Week is combining forces with the UK Publishers Association to launch an award for books that have inspired television series, films, games and theatre.

The new CAMEOS, that’s Creativity Across Media: Excellence and Originality Awards will be held in March and will give awards across four categories, celebrating books that have been turned into movies, television series and games.

The four new Cameo Award categories will be Best Book to Film, Best Book to Game, Best Book to Stage and Best Book to Television and the award will be launched at the London Book & Screen Week in March. The organise celebrates all the creative industries rather than literature and say that these industries are worth over £84 billion to the UK economy, and much of this has to do with the revolution that has taken place in television in the last couple of years.

Entries to the awards are open now to any individual or organisation in the UK and judges will look at press coverage, critical acclaim and prize nominations when judging. The shortlist will be announced in early March and the four category winners will be announced at London Book & Screen Week on 13th March.

This year’s London Book & Screen Week will run from 13th to 19th March with author David Nicholls as the event ambassador. This year’s event will include a celebration of the 20th anniversary of Rowling’s Harry Potter and the bicentenary of Jane Austen’s birth.

We’ll bring you the shortlist and all the winners the moment they’re released!
