Robert O’Neill, the former Navy SEAL who is credited with firing the shots that killed Osama bin Laden is to release a book detailing his life in the forces including the pivotal moment in the United States’ fight against al-Qaeda when he pulled the trigger ending the life of one of the most wanted men in the history of the USA. Dubbed the Bin Laden killer O’Neill’s book is due to be released in April of this year.

O’Neill had initially wanted to become a sniper in the Marines but on the day he went to enlist, the Marine recruiter was not in the office and he was instead guided into becoming a sniper for the U.S. Navy SEALs.  He would remain with them for sixteen years retiring just four years shy of his retirement in 2012 when he became a public speaker.

The Operator chronicles O’Neill’s life from his childhood years through to the roughly 400 missions he would embark on with the elite unit.

Involved in the rescue of ‘Lone Survivor’ Marcus Luttrell and Captain Richard Phillips who had been kidnapped by Somali pirates O’Neill’s Naval career would be marked by just three bullets but they were three very famous bullets, they were the bullets that ended the life of America’s most wanted man Osama bin Laden.
