We’re into a new month already and summer is almost over! I’m sure the older you get the quicker the years fly by and it’s hard to believe we’re in September already! We may be one more month to the dreaded festive season, but that does mean it’s time for our regular monthly feature as we look back on 50 years of September releases!

Every month we do our ‘On this Day’ feature, chronicling the new releases of the last fifty years, one book for each decade. It’s a great way to look back at old releases, and find yourself some new/old reads. Maybe you waiting patiently for these books to be released and they’ll bring back some fond memories, or maybe you’ll find something to read today. Let’s see!

Jubilee – Margaret Walker

Jubilee follows the story of a bi-racial slave, and it’s a story that the author heard from her grandmother and spent thirty years researching. It was released in September 1966, and is deserving of classic status it doesn’t have.
