Fire and Fury Released Early Despite Cease and Desist from Trump Camp

By January 5, 2018New Releases, Political

The US publisher of an explosive new book exposing Trump’s chaotic run in the White House has responded to a cease and desist notice from President Trump’s camp by releasing the book, Fire and Fury early. The move is in defiance of the attempt by Trump’s lawyers to shut it down and stop publication.

Last night, the book’s author tweeted “Here we go. You can buy it (and read it) tomorrow. Thank you, Mr President.”

Originally Fire and Fury was due for release next Tuesday, and there seemed to be little concern from the Trump Camp. Then the Guardian newspaper in the UK made several extracts public, throwing the White House into frenzy. The excerpts put doubt on Trump’s mental stability, his fitness to serve and brings light to his poor reaction on finding he’d become president.

As expected, the president himself took to Twitter, denying that the author had any White House access at all.

This came after the president had denounced his one-time confidante Steve Bannon, claiming that when he lost his job, he also lost his mind.

By Thursday it became clear that the White House was in a spin, trying to stop the publication. A letter was sent from the president demanding that author Wolff and his publisher Henry Holt & Co “immediately cease and desist from any further publication, release or dissemination” The legal notice also demanded a copy of the book.

Wolff and the publisher responded by bringing forward the release date so that Trump could buy his own copy, and it’s thought that 250,000 copies of Fire and Fury have already been shipped out by Amazon and cited the new release date as ‘due to unprecedented demand’. A statement from Henry Holt & Co confirmed that they had indeed received the cease and desist notice but intended on going ahead with the publication of this important book.

Lawyers in the field feel that Trump’s lawsuit has no chance of success because it would mean Trump would have to take the stand and deny and respond to claims in the book.

Right now the only thing anyone knows for sure is that Fire and Fury is about to become a national bestseller, and it’s on sale from today.
