Five Get the Parody Treatment: Enid Blyton’s Work Spoofed

By May 22, 2016August 11th, 2016New Releases

Famous Five Parody Books to be Released

It wasn’t long ago we were bringing you news of the adult Ladybird books, adult parody versions of the iconic books for young children and now Britain’s most famous young detectives are getting the same treatment as Five Get the Parody Treatment in a new series of the old favourites to be released later this year.

It seems that parody is where it’s at and creating adult versions of children’s books is the hot thing to do right now.

Enid Blyton’s Famous Five books are about to get a very adult makeover as parody writer and comic Bruno Vincent rewrites the old favourites. The titles, published by Quercus will be available for sale from early November and include titles such as Five go Gluten Free, Five Give up the Booze, and Five go on a Strategy Away Day.

Hachette bought the rights to Blyton’s estate in 2012, and these new books will be published by Quercus, an imprint of Hachette. It seems right now will they will only be going up for sale to a UK audience, and so we’ll have to see if they become available in the US.

With five titles available for pre-order and each running to 96 pages these books are the perfect present for the Blyton fan in your life, or just as a gift to yourself, I’d love these on my bookshelf. Whether Bruno Vincent will run the series to twenty-one books like the original series remains to be seen, but four of the new titles will be released on November 3rd 2016 with Five Go Dry in January following on 1st December 2016.

Don’t worry America, we are keeping a close eye on Amazon.com and as soon as the books become available to you we will update and share the links with you.

I have pre-ordered my set, they’ll sit perfectly on my bookshelf next to my Ladybird books for grown ups.
