Paul McCartney will reveal a never-seen-before Beatles song in his forthcoming book The Lyrics.
The music icon has revealed that the book will be based on conversations between himself and poet Paul Muldoon, and 154 songs will be featured in the book.
The book is described as a “self-portrait in 154 songs” and will feature songs from the entirety of McCartney’s long career, including classics such as Blackbird, Hey Jude, Yesterday, and Live and Let Die, written for the James Bond movie of the same.
The book’s publisher said The Lyrics also features the unrecorded song Tell Me Who He Is. The handwritten lyrics were discovered in one of McCartney’s notebooks and are believed to date back to the early 1960s.
The book containing many treasured moments from McCartney’s career, will be released on the 2nd of November. It will contain handwritten lyric sheets, handwritten lyrics, unseen personal photographs, and drawings, with commentary from the songwriter about each song’s creation.
“More often than I can count, I’ve been asked if I would write an autobiography, but the time has never been right,” says the foreword by McCartney. “The one thing I’ve always managed to do, whether at home or on the road, is to write new songs. I know that some people, when they get to a certain age, like to go to a diary to recall day-to-day events from the past, but I have no such notebooks. What I do have are my songs, hundreds of them, which I’ve learned serve much the same purpose. And these songs span my entire life.”
The book’s release will coincide with a new display at the British Library, featuring content from the book, and will run from 5th November to 13th March 2022.
