Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ Novelisation Coming This Summer

By February 5, 2021New Releases

In 2019, Quentin Tarantino released his latest movie, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which followed struggling actor Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stuntman Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) as they struggled to remain relevant in Hollywood in the late ’60’s. The film was met with critical acclaim and, if you enjoyed it as much as most, you’ll be pleased to learn a novelisation is set to be released later this summer.

As we recently reported, famed director Quentin Tarantino has signed a two-book deal with HarperCollins. The first is a novelisation of his recent film and the second will be a non-fiction book that examines cinema in the 1970s. As NME reports, the novelisation of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is set to be released this summer on 29 June and a deluxe hardcover copy will follow in the autumn.

Speaking of the novelisation, Tarantino said: “In the seventies, movie novelizations were the first adult books I grew up reading. And to this day I have a tremendous amount of affection for the genre.

“So as a movie-novelization aficionado, I’m proud to announce Once Upon a Time in Hollywood as my contribution to this often marginalized, yet beloved sub-genre in literature.

“I’m also thrilled to further explore my characters and their world in a literary endeavour that can (hopefully) sit alongside its cinematic counterpart.”

Publisher Emad Akhtar said: “I’m sure I’m not alone in having wondered what a Tarantino novel would be like – and the result is something that feels ground-breaking and hugely entertaining in the way only he knows how to be.”
