Whether you love or hate Twilight, I’m guessing you’ve at least heard of it, and of Stephenie Meyer, author of the trilogy and standalone novel The Host. The young adult author hasn’t published anything since Twilight and the spin off books from the saga, but her publisher Little Brown announced this week that spy thriller The Chemist will be released on 15th November.

The news, reported by The Wall Street Journal this week shows a change for the author, who previously has only written for young adults. That said, both The Host and the Twilight Saga are popular with adult audiences too, especially women and those women, plus the younger audience who have now grown up, are likely to drive sales for The Chemist.

Despite the move away from young adult literature, Little Brown make a reference to the author’s unique talents and that could well mean a supernatural element to this new book as Meyer sticks to genre, even if she moves away from her previous age group.

While Twilight has come under huge criticism from literary corners, it remains hugely popular with a great section of readers, and if we had to guess we’d say this new novel will be an instant bestseller.

The Chemist is to follow the life of a female US government agent, holding a dark secret, she gets the chance of a way out and a way to get rid of the target from her back but is she prepared to pay the price? Reading the synopsis we think that this is a story unlikely to be resolved by the last page as it seems set up for a sequel or series.

The Chemist is available on pre-order now and Little Brown has given a release date of 15th November 2016.
