Dolly Parton, country music star and all round absolute legend, is to publish her first novel next year.

Run, Rose, Run is about a young woman who moves to Nashville to follow her dream of becoming a musician. The book will be co-written with James Patterson and published by Penguin Random House.

Both UK and US editions will be published on 7th of March 2022, alongside a novel-inspired album of the same name with 12 original tracks.

“I cannot be more excited about the release of my very first novel Run, Rose, Run with the great James Patterson. I also have a new album to go along with the book,” Parton told People magazine in a statement. “All new songs were written based on the characters and situations in the book. I hope you enjoy the book and the songs as much as we’ve enjoyed putting it all together!”

“It’s been an honour – and a hell of a lot of fun – to work with the inimitable Dolly Parton,” said James Patterson, “The mind-blowing thing about this project is that reading the novel is enhanced by listening to the album and vice versa. It’s a really unique experience.”
