Fantastic Beasts Exhibition Coming to London’s Natural History Museum

If you’re a Harry Potter fan who spends too much time imagining what life would be like were you to live in a world where magic is real, then you’ll be excited to learn that the Natural History Museum in London is hosting a Fantastic Beasts exhibition, which will see digital installations and physical scientific specimens on display alongside real animals from our own world.

Fantastic Beasts: The Wonder of Nature will be on display in the Waterhouse Gallery this Spring and will allow visitors to learn more about the beasts found in J.K. Rowling’s books. There is also a somewhat more scientific element to the exhibition, one which aims to demonstrate how nature has inspired myths and legends. For instance, many real life animals use camouflage to hide from predators and prey, just like Rowling’s Demiguise. The exhibition will also feature the character Newt Scamander, who will show guests how scientists help us to understand the natural world.

The exhibition is part of a collaboration between the museum, the BBC, and Warner Bros., a show presented by Stephen Fry will also air alongside the opening, to show how many of Rowling’s creatures have been inspired by our own natural world. Tickets aren’t yet available but you can sign up HERE to be informed when more information is available. If you live overseas then you’ll be pleased to learn an international tour will commence seven months after it opens in London.
