By May 25, 2021New Releases, News

Freddie Mercury’s life story will be told in a new graphic novel from Z2 Comics.

The new release, due out later this year, will tell the life story of the Queen frontman in his own words, from his childhood in Zanzibar to becoming one of the most famous and influential rock stars in the world.

Z2 Comics have joined forces with Universal Music Group and Mercury Songs Ltd for Freddie Mercury: Lover of Life, Singer of Songs, which will be “the first-ever graphic novel paying tribute to one of the greatest figures the music world has ever known”.

The book will focus on Mercury’s life on and off stage. “The story is told in his own words, with each chapter giving a glimpse into the many facets of his life,” Z2 Comics said in a statement.

The book, written by Tres Dean, will come in a few different formats from standard softcover to a full deluxe package edition.

The standard editions come in either softcover or hardcover versions of the 136-page graphic novel. The deluxe edition consists of an oversized hardcover version of the graphic novel (limited to 7,000 copies) held within a slipcase, three exclusive art prints, and a ‘Never Boring’ exclusive magenta vinyl LP.

The graphic novel is illustrated by Kyla Smith, Robin Richardson, Safiya Zerrougui, Tammy Wang, and Amy Liu.
