Hannah Gadsby is Releasing a Book- ‘Ten Steps to Nanette’

By December 3, 2021New Releases, News

Hannah Gadsby’s stand-up routine ‘Nanette’, shown on Netflix in 2018, made her a sudden household name.

Although still a comedy routine, Nanette was unique in its content and delivery, using social commentary regarding LGBTQ issues, mental illness, and neurodiversity, punctuated with comedic moments. Gadsby has a wonderful way of building tension, then popping it like a balloon with her sharp wit and humour, leaving the audience relieved yet reflective.

Gadsby has now announced her book Ten Steps to Nanette which takes the reader through the defining moments of her life that led to her iconic performance.

The announcement on Gadsby’s website says:

“Ten Steps to Nanette traces her growth as a queer person from Tasmania—where homosexuality was illegal until 1997—to her ever-evolving relationship with comedy, to her struggle with late-in-life diagnoses of autism and ADHD, and finally to the backbone of Nanette: the renouncement of self-deprecation, the rejection of misogyny, and the moral significance of truth-telling.

Harrowing and hilarious, Ten Steps to Nanette continues Gadsby’s tradition of confounding expectations and norms, properly introducing us to one of the most explosive, formative voices of our time.”

Pre-order your copy now. Ten Steps to Nanette is due for release in March 2022.
