Hillary Clinton to Publish New Book of Essays

For much of 2016, Hillary Clinton was almost always in the spotlight during her turbulent presidential race against Donald Trump. The race was long, hard, and ended in failure for the democratic nominee. Most of us would probably take a well earned break after such intense work, but Mrs Clinton has other ideas.

Clinton is currently working on a new book that will be comprised of a series of essays inspired by some of her favourite quotes. These essays will give readers an insight into her political career so far, her husband’s sex scandals, her race in the election, and her thoughts on Donald Trump.

As The Guardian reports, Clinton said in a statement: “These quotes have helped me celebrate the good times, laugh at the absurd times, persevere during the hard times and deepen my appreciation of all life has to offer.”

The 2016 presidential race was one of the most memorable in many years. Both candidates took a serious battering as the race heated up. Clinton’s integrity was attacked, questions about the Clinton foundation were raised, plus there were claims she used her private email to send classified information. Trump was equally targeted after he was caught boasting about sexually assaulting women, when he refused to show his tax records to the public, and for his comments on minority Americans.

It has not been stated how much Clinton has been given for her new book but it is thought to be a serious sum of money. In 2004, Bill Clinton received $15 million for his memoir My Life and, only a year before that, Hillary received $8 million for her book Living History. It was never revealed how much Hillary received for her 2014 book Hard Choices but the figure has been speculated to be around $14 million. No doubt the price for her new book will be even higher given the amount of public interest during the 2016 race.

Set to be published by Simon & Schuster, S&S president and chief executive Carolyn Reidy has stated: “We are delighted that Secretary Clinton finally thinks the time is right to share the words and thoughts that nourished and enriched her, and defined the experiences of her extraordinary life”. No doubt the book will be a big hit and a must read for those who supported her during her race.

The book is yet to be given a name but is expected to be released this Autumn.
