Ladybird Book of Boxing Day Parody Coming for Festive Season

By November 4, 2016New Releases, News

Over the last couple of years we’ve seen a huge explosion in parody books and it all started with the ‘grown up’ Ladybird parody books. While you’ll remember the Ladybird book of… from your childhood, these versions take on a more adult twist to much hilarity and were some of the best selling books of last year.

A few weeks ago, Ladybird announced that they were adding to the range in time for Christmas with nine new titles for the Ladybird parody collection. The new books were published on 20th October and have proved hugely popular already.

Now it’s announced that Ladybird were saving the best until last and the twentieth title in the Ladybird Books for Grown Ups series will be The Ladybird Book of Boxing Day, out on 2nd December!

Given that last Christmas publishers were forced to reprint several times due to demand, we suspect this new book will be a Christmas bestseller. The original series quite literally flew off the shelves as customers bathed in the nostalgia of it all.

At £6.99 The Ladybird Books for Grown Ups make the perfect small gift for those Secret Santa exchanges, for work colleagues and friends, and The Ladybird Book of Boxing Day is sure to be a talking point around the Christmas table too.

The spoof parodies have created a whole new genre in publishing, and already we’ve seen several other children’s books spoofed for grown ups, while it was announced a few months ago that Quercus would be publishing a series of Famous Five parody books in time for Christmas.

It’s a brand new adventure for publishers as demand for all things retro continues, and it’s all thanks to those Ladybird books we loved as a kid.
