By November 20, 2021Adaptations, News

Harry Potter fans are excited to hear the news of a 20th anniversary reunion coming to HBO Max.

WarnerMedia has announced that the stars of the Harry Potter movie adaptation will join filmmaker Chris Columbus to celebrate the release of the very first movie- Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson and a whole host of others from the cast will come together to film a retrospective special much like the recent Friends reunion.

The plan is to tell the story of how the movies were made, with in-depth interviews and conversations with the cast.  The highly-anticipated retrospective be aired on New Year’s Day on HBO Max.

The special will also be shown on TBS and Cartoon Network in spring 2022 before a global release later.

According to Warner, the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts “will honour the magic behind the making of the films and the beautiful family created at Warner Bros. Studios London two decades ago.”

“It has been an incredible journey since the debut of the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone film, and witnessing how it has evolved into this remarkable interconnected universe has been magical to say the least,” said Tom Ascheim, President, Warner Bros. Global Kids, Young Adults and Classics, in the announcement. “This retrospective is a tribute to everyone whose lives were touched by this cultural phenomenon-from the talented cast and crew who poured their heart and soul into this extraordinary film franchise to the passionate fans who continue to keep the Wizarding World spirit alive 20 years later.”
