‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ Novel Announced

By February 23, 2021Children's Literature, News

The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of Disney’s darkest, most popular films of all time. The creepy animated film is the brainchild of Tim Burton and has gained a serious following since it released in 1993. Some say it’s a Halloween film, others that it’s a Christmas film, all we know is it has some seriously catchy tunes and lots of fun scares. If you’re a fan of the movie, you’ll want to check out the upcoming Nightmare Before Christmas novel, which will explore what happened to the film’s protagonists, Jack and Sally, after the credits rolled.

Set to be penned by author Shea Ernshaw, the novel follows the lovers Jack and Sally shortly after the film’s end, as they get married and settle down. However, things go terribly wrong when Sally inadvertently lets loose a terrible villain on Halloween Town. The entire holiday world is plunged into chaos, and it’s up to Sally to save the day.

The novel will see Sally explore other holiday worlds, and it’s likely we’ll see characters from the film make an appearance, as well as some new faces. As insidethemagic reports, Ernshaw said of the upcoming book:

“This new book, written from the point of view of Sally, takes place shortly after the movie ends. It’s the yet-to-be-told love story of Sally and Jack. But it’s also a coming-of-age story for Sally, as we see her navigate her new royal title as the Pumpkin Queen of Halloween Town. It will hopefully give fans a long-awaited second dose of Sally, Jack, and all the familiar residents of Halloween Town, while introducing a new cast of grim, strange characters, that I hope readers will love.”

The novel is set to be released next year in July 2022.
