15 Reads for your Summer Suitcase

It’s holiday season and if you’re already wondering how many pairs of shoes you can leave behind and replace with books then we have some expert advice for you. By expert we mean we asked all our FB fans and avid readers to suggest their favourite holiday reads and from your selections we have the top 15 reads for your holiday suitcase!

Seriously, you only need sandals, you’ll never wear the four pairs of stilettos you have put to one side. Holidays are for comfort so sling out the shoes and include these books instead!

Girl on the Train – Paul Hawkins

This was a hugely popular book club selection for you Reading Addicts so I’m not at all surprised it made our holiday reading list. A twist turny thriller, guaranteed to enthral you on the beach.

Paper Towns – John Green

Popular with younger and adult readers and currently hitting the big screens is Paper Towns, and what better book to read on a road trip than a book about a road trip?

The Fault in Our Stars – John Green

And another John Green book is next in our list too! Personally I prefer holiday reads that don’t tear out your heart and stamp all over it, but each to their own.

The Book Thief – Markus Zusak

The Book Thief is one of the most beautiful books I have ever read and an essential read for people of all ages so it’s little surprise it’s made our holiday reading list.

The Martian – Andy Weir

Another book that has been creating quite a buzz around our page is The Martian by Andy Weir. If you fancy spending your holiday being taken right out of your own world then this is one for the suitcase.

And the Mountains Echoed – Khaled Housseini

Khaled Housseini writes beautiful stories, but they can be tearjerkers too, so you might want to be careful what company you’re in if you’re taking this one on holiday.

The Goldfinch – Donna Tartt

This one has had mixed reviews within our community and it seemed you either loved it or hated it. That said, enough people recommended it for it to make our summer reading list.

Lost – Michael Robotham

Michael Robotham specialises in crime thrillers and if this is your chosen genre then Lost comes highly recommended on our holiday reads list.

Still Alice – Lisa Genova

Another popular read in our book club, Still Alice deals with a sensitive issue and is another tearjerker, but that didn’t stop many of you recommending it as a great holiday read.
