Hit of the Lits – FRA Top 40
Every month we ask our For Reading Addicts community to let us know what their favourite reads have been and then compile our very own monthly chart; August had over 150 different titles mentioned but with a certain much anticipated release earlier in the month it won’t come as much of a surprise to see what our number one is. With all of these titles taken from your votes this is a true reader’s top 40 for August.
Just like the charts, we have a Top 10 featured, and then the full Top 40, and all the ‘shakers and movers’. And just like the music charts, we aren’t seeing just new releases appearing each month as events in popular culture push books to the top of your reading pile, and perennial books which stay popular forever.

Harry Potter and The Cursed Child – J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, John Tiffany
Breaking all pre-order records and with midnight events across the globe it’s no wonder that this script from the play is our number one title.

Harry Potter (series) – J.K Rowling
It seems that The Cursed Child has caused a resurgence in everything Potter with a significant number of you either reading the series for the first time or revisiting the series as a warm up for the latest instalment.

Miss Peregrine Series – Ransom Riggs
Returning to the top ten and up 29 places is the brilliant story of a young boy who after a terrible family tragedy follows a series of clues that bring him to an abandoned orphanage on a Welsh island.

The Hobbit – J.R.R Tolkien
It seems that someone somewhere is always reading something from the Middle Earth creator and after a month away from our charts he returns at number 4.

After You – Jojo Moyes
New this month is the sequel to the immensely successful Me Before You. Jojo is a mainstay of our top forty with at least one of her books appearing in all of them so far.

The Nightingale – Kristin Hannah
Another repeat performer in our charts is back this month at number 6; The Nightingale is a book that comes highly recommended by all our followers.

American Gods – Neil Gaiman
This epic tale of ancient Gods battling for survival in modern America is new entry this month at number 7

The Casual Vacancy – J.K Rowling
Everything Jo Rowling touches at the moment is turning to gold and here she is again with her third new entry in at number 8.

A Man Called Ove – Fredrick Backman
The heart warming story that has had our reading group ablaze with chat all year is staying steady at number 9, despite his grumpy exerior it seems we all love Ove!

End of Watch – Stephen King
The final book in the Bill Hodges trilogy bounces back 22 places up the charts this month as we reach the conclusion of Brady Hartsfield’s one man war against the innocent public.
