Literary Advent Calendar: Always Winter but Never Christmas

By December 13, 2016Reading Excerpts

Those who are familiar with the ‘Always winter but never Christmas’ quote will know that today’s advent calendar features a little from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, which isn’t strictly a Christmas book but always makes me feel festive. The entire Narnia series make a lovely festive read I feel, and so today’s quote is dedicated to the beautiful C. S Lewis series.

We hope you enjoy this snippet from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

“Wrong will be right, when Aslan comes in sight,
At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more,
When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death,
And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again.”

Set in deep winter, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is a great read for winter and it’s always a favourite of mine around this time of year. It’s an incredibly quotable book and finding just one snippet to share was difficult!

We’ll be back tomorrow, and every day until Christmas with another festive snippet for the advent calendar, getting you in the mood for the festive season.
