ASMR is all over the internet but only one such audio sensory trigger is a book lovers dream… The book restoration.

This compilation of book repairs is full of surprisingly soothing sounds like pages being smoothed or cut, or pencil markings being drawn.

The YouTube channel ‘Unintentional ASMR’ finds all sorts of videos whose original purpose is to inform, and shares them with folk who get physical reactions from different types of sound.

ASMR stands for ‘Autonomous sensory meridian response’ and is the ‘goosebumps/pimples’ reaction to triggering noises like soft speaking, ripping or smoothing paper, or other textural sounds. The pleasant feeling ASMR gives makes people seek out these sounds from all over- including places where the effect was entirely unintentional.

One such video is full of examples of people mending and restoring books, using paper, scissors, clamps, and tape. The sounds produced can often give viewers a relaxing sensation, and tingling up and down their body.
