Word of the Day – Munitionette

By July 1, 2016Word of the Day

Munitionette (noun) (historic)

mu-nish-on-et

Chiefly British and now historical, munitionette was the name given to young ladies who worked at bomb factories, mainly during World War 1.

Thankfully we’re in times of relative peace but what a great word from a historical perspective.

Example sentences

“She’s been working as a munitionette since her husband was sent away.”
