Originally a person from Bohemia but has come to mean a socially unconventional person, especially one who is involved in the arts.
Bohemia was an area of the Czech Republic and it was from that direction that gypsies entered France. Originally Bohemian meant gypsy, but over the years the meaning has changed so mean anyone who doesn’t quite fit in.
