McKay's Bookshops - Tennessee
Bookstores may be having to work hard to compete against online retailers, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of people who much prefer to buy their books in actual bookstores than browse online. If you’re one such bibliophile, the you’ll want to check out McKay’s Used Books.
Three McKay’s stores are currently open, and can be found in Chattanooga, Knoxville, and Nashville, Tennessee. The stores purchase your old books, films, and video games in exchange for cash or store credit. The exchanged items then go up on McKay’s shelves at very reasonable prices. McKay’s doesn’t offer an online service so you have to come into one of the stores and have a browse.
Trading in your old books for cash is a great way to get something new and this also means that the stores’ inventory is constantly changing. Don’t feel too daunted by so much choice, the stores feature a well organized computer system which makes finding a particular book easy. The stores also feature a ‘Free Box’ outside their doors, which offer free items that can’t be sold due to age or condition but, you know what they say, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
The stores also host community events and is a great way for people to get together. McKay’s reports that it brings in as many as 10,000 new items a day, so it’s always worth a visit! This certainly seems like a great place for book lovers in the area to check out.
