It might be Kath’s Blog, but we have many contributors on site now and For Reading Addicts is run by a team of bookish people so we thought you’d like to meet them!
Here’s a little something about everyone who contributes to the site, we hope you enjoy getting to know everyone. You’ll see us around our social media pages and of course on site too.
I’m the Kath from Kath’s Blog and For Reading Addicts is my baby. I’ve always loved reading and have a keen interest in literature and language, and right now my favourite thing to do is to share that love with you all. For the first time in my life I feel like I found my tribe, and you guys are it!
In good times and bad, books have been a constant companion to me, from the Famous Five I read as a child, to the broad range of literature I immerse myself in now, and I don’t mind admitting I’m not too old for children’s books either.
I pretty much oversee everything here at FRA so if you have an idea, or something related you’d love to share, don’t hesitate to get in touch on the contact button above. I love hearing your ideas, and don’t forget we rely on your reviews and submissions too!
Rosie here, born and bred in Devon where I currently reside with my partner, our son, a very silly dog called Dilys Doodle O’Day (catch her on Vine!), and one anti-social cat named Jess. I have spent the past 10 years deciding whether to get a ‘proper’ job or follow my dream and be the writer I know I can be, so I’m finishing my Education degree in 2015/16 to move onto a creative writing Masters. I have a children’s book in the works and hope to get close to the brilliance of Johnny Duddle, Jacqueline Wilson, or Roald Dahl (one can but dream!).
I’m very excited to be a part of the FRA team and hope to use my writing and photography skills to bring you some funny and interesting pieces! You’ll find me in the blogs and pages and I run the For Reading Addicts Instagram and Tumblr.
I’m Bev Brown and I make up some of the devious quizzes that appear on For Reading Addicts.
I can’t remember a time when I didn’t read, it has always been a huge part of my life. I studied English and European Literature at University back in the days when it was free (I got paid by the government to read books for three years, what bliss) and I have a particular fondness for Victorian novels, especially Dickens – Dombey and Son being my Desert Island Book. I also have a love of Shakespeare, Much Ado About Nothing being my Desert Island play and the poetry of TS Eliot, Prufrock being my Desert Island poem.
I live in Sussex with my long suffering family who are used to not getting much attention until the end of the next chapter!
Hi there, my name’s Thom and I’m a blog contributor here at For Reading Addicts. I can’t remember a time I didn’t love reading and growing up I read the likes of The Edge Chronicles, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and the Asterix comics. As an adult I’ll read just about any genre and some of my favourite books includes The Great Gatsby, Stoner, The Catcher in the Rye, East of Eden, the A Song of Ice and Fire series, and Gates of Fire, to name but a few! Books stick with us through the good times and the bad, and are able to take us to far off lands and broaden our minds from the comfort of our own armchair. They’re truly worth celebrating. When I’ve not got my nose in a book, you can usually find me playing music, writing, or watching Attenborough documentaries.
Hi I’m Catherine, I’m a self-confessed ‘reading addict’ and a blog contributor at For Reading Addicts. I have always loved reading and grew up ploughing through the likes of Roald Dahl, Enid Blyton, Jacqueline Wilson, and, of course, J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series. Now, I read a whole range of genres, fiction and non-fiction which I review for the site (you can do this too buy submitting your own). Alongside reading, I have also always loved writing and studied Magazine Journalism and Feature Writing at university which led me to become a writer at For Reading Addicts after I’d been a fan and follower of the page for some time.
Hi I’m Jacqui and I’m definitely a book dragon not a worm! I’ve been reading for as long as I can remember. I still have vivid memories of my Mum reading to me when I was a child, and as soon as I could read I was picking up whatever I found, and excitedly ploughing my way through it.
My real turning point though came at school, when faced with exam texts I was forced to read George Orwell’s 1984. I couldn’t believe my luck, finally something we had to read that I loved. I still have my school copy, the pages are all loose and falling out, and there’s scribbles in the margins, but I’d never let it go.
Now I spend half my life trying to decide what to read next. My mountainous “to read” pile grows and grows and my wish list gets longer by the day. When I do eventually sit down to read, I am often joined by my cute but slightly mad Jack Russell Alfie, who loves to be read to, unless of course it’s a book about cats!
Here, I am admin on our book club group The Cwts @ Reading Addicts, and since I was made redundant in the summer, I have also started writing the odd blog and running For Reading Addicts Instagram and Twitter pages. Come and give us a like, it’ll make me smile.
Hello, my name is Mathew Hooper, I’m happy to be joining the ForReadingAddicts team, at present I’m uploading your submitted book reviews to this website, Facebook and Twitter and I’m also learning some tech stuff so I can keep the site running tip top for you all. It’s always good to hear what you think about the books you’ve read, the only draw back being that MY ‘To Read’ list is growing tenfold.
The books I prefer to read have the theme of the supernatural and beings with extra ordinary abilities; it’s interesting to enter someone’s world that they have created and all the characters that come with it. That being said as long as it’s fiction I’ll give it a go.
I’m Shan and I’m a Reading Addict. I always have been I think, I can’t remember a time that I couldn’t read and more importantly I can’t remember ever not enjoying reading. My childhood was filled with Enid Blyton, Anna Sewell and C.S Lewis to name but a few. I’d be in bed at 7:30pm then spend hours reading by sticking my head behind the curtains using the streetlight outside to read by. I got caught more often than I care to remember; 11pm and me still with my nose buried in a book, oblivious to the time.
Then, in my teens my step dad introduced me to Sci Fi and Horror, a whole new universe was opened up to me and I found the true beauty of books and the worlds hidden within their pages.
Here, I’m the gopher.. The publisher/author nagger and the social media lackey. If you have a book or author you want to promote, it’s me who will try and find you a reviewer, so be nice to me.
