Word of the Day – Hornswoggle

By November 1, 2015Word of the Day

Hornswoggle (v)

hawrn-swog-uh-l

To swindle, cheat, hoodwink, or hoax.

I always thought this meant ‘rubbish’ ‘balderdash’ ‘pish’ but obviously I was wrong.

Example sentences

“I’ve no idea how she hornswoggled a drink out of him, he’s tighter than a duck’s arse! ”

“I’m going to see if I can hornswoggle another 12 months of half priced cable TV..”
