A Court of Thorns and Roses, often affectionately referred to as ACOTAR, is a widely adored fantasy book series that has long had fans dreaming of a screen adaptation. For some time, that dream seemed to be coming true.
Hulu had been developing a television adaptation of the series since March 2021, with author Sarah J. Maas involved in the process. However, after a long period without significant updates, the news has finally arrived, and it’s not what fans were hoping for.
The ACOTAR TV series has officially been cancelled.
The project will no longer move forward with Hulu, bringing an end to this particular attempt at translating the popular fantasy world to the screen. Despite this setback, the story may not be over. Once the rights to the books revert to Sarah J. Maas, she’ll be free to pursue other opportunities to adapt her work.
So, while this version of the ACOTAR adaptation won’t be coming to screens, there’s still a chance fans could one day see Feyre and the rest of the beloved characters brought to life in a new project. For now, the wait continues, but hope remains.
