“Reads like a tense thriller.”

NO MAJOR SPOILERS

Just finished Countdown 1945 by Chris Wallace. Non-Fiction. This is the story of the days leading up to the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It is told in a steady chronological order as we relive the tension filed days before the birth of the atomic age.
Told through the eyes of certain people heavily involved in this operation it runs from President Truman to Robert Oppenheimer and the crew of the Enola Gay, the plane that dropped the first bomb.

There are some surprises in the story, and at the end of the book we get a quick telling of what happened to the characters we followed after the war is over
No matter how you feel about the use of the bomb it is important to know the details around the descions made to help end the war. Recommended.
