The Bewitching of Camille is a work of suspenseful and exciting supernatural fiction and was penned by author D. A. Barney. Set in the dark and fascinating voodoo culture of New Orleans, we enter a world of witches and warlocks where hundreds of years of tradition have resulted in some horrifying rituals.

Witches are killed young to ensure that they do not reach their full potential, but they continue to be bred and cultivated so as not to kill off the race. The story tells of the young pregnant Camille, and her desperation to survive a young warlock who would kill both her and her daughter to uphold the old ways.

Richly occult, filled with gothic secrets and tragedies, The Bewitching of Camille is a stylish supernatural work with plenty of bite to it. Fans of horror and fantasy genre mash-ups are sure to love the atmospheric descriptions of author D. A. Barney, whose choice for settings, times and places gives an expansive history of torment and oppression as a powerful backdrop for Camille’s story.

The central heroine is a strong figure with plenty to admire, indeed too strong for the story’s antagonists to allow her to live.

What results is an intense work of character development as the mother and daughter bond, but also face the terrifying reality of the future to come.

Overall, The Bewitching of Camille comes highly recommended for fans of witchcraft tales, gothic fiction and horror fables for its stylish and strong narrative presentation.
