NO MAJOR SPOILERS
Olivia Paras, aka Ollie, is an Assistant Chef at the White House Assistant Chef Olivia Paras. On way to work one day, she encounters an intruder in the lawns of the White House. When she comes face-to-face with him, she manages to whack him and aids his capture. But not before the intruder whispers to her that he’s here to warn the President of an imminent danger!
Ollie cannot shake off the incident from her head, and despite the warnings and disapproval from the Secret Service, she decides to investigate on her own. This not only endangers her life, but also her relationship with Tom Mackenzie, who happens to be a Secret Service Agent, employed at the White House too.
Parallel to all this, she’s battling other challenges as well. Her boss, Henry, is due to retire soon and she’s vying for his spot as Executive Chef; in a heated competition with Laurel Anne Braun who happens to be an obnoxious celebrity TV Chef and an ex-employee of the White House kitchen. She also faces the wrath and antagonism of the newly appointed “sensitivity director” who clearly dislikes her and prefers Laurel Anne, instead.
The tension mounts as the President hosts two warring countries in a major attempt to negotiate peace.
Will Ollie be able to deliver the state dinner effectively enough to win the spot for Executive Chef, when she’s being hunted by the world-famous assassin known as Chameleon, and when Laurel Anne already has scored brownie points with the First Lady?
Will she solve the mystery of the Chameleon before the President is harmed?
The author has launched this series with a bang.
Brilliantly written, with the right pace and length; this is a compulsively readable who dunnit with a host of mouth-watering dishes, and easy-to-cook recipes.
Looks like another series I will be binge reading.
5/5 for me!
