“There is something so steady and beautiful about the way Klara is always approaching connection, like a Zeno’s arrow of the heart. People will absolutely love this book, in part because it enacts the way we learn how to love.”

NO MAJOR SPOILERS

Just finished Klara and the Sun by Kazou Ishiguro.
This is the first novel by the author since he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature.
This outstanding book takes us to the world of AF’s or Artificial Friends, a series of robots created mostly to become friends for children. Klara, an AF and the narrator of the story has very developed senses as to understanding people and situations.
While on display in the front window of the store that handles her product, Klara is noticed by a young girl named Josie. Josie is a very intelligent young lady who unfortunately has developed a debilitating disease that slowly continues to sap her strength . Josie convinces her mother to buy Klara and so in this way Klara becomes part of Josies life.

Klara will develop relationships with Josies mother, the housekeeper, and Rick,Josies best friend who lives next door.
Klara eventually feels that she can help make Josie better, and the story will fully revolve around this feeling.
This is a beautiful book, and so well written. It will stay with you for a long time, and after you have finished it you will wonder about how the author developed this story, especially with all the sub plots involved with this story.
A true gem. Highly recommended
