“From start to finish, this is a must-read book for all readers.”

NO MAJOR SPOILERS

It is easy to see why many readers find the strengths of the book as well as the weaknesses to be very attractive. The author, Susanna Flavius, does a good job of introducing the characters, creating a very good setting, and providing some excellent dialogue. While I don’t necessarily recommend this book for everyone, it is definitely a good read for those who are interested in historical fiction or in creating their own fantasy novels. If you are looking for a fantasy that is historically accurate but also offers a bit of fantasy, then this book could be just the thing for you.

What I do not like about this book is its length. A short story with a difference- At over 100 pages, it can be a bit slow when it comes to pacing the story. I have read books that were much longer and even when I finished reading, I was still thinking about things in the characters’ heads. However, if you plan to use this as a reference or as a quick read before your next visit to the library, then I would recommend that you take that route. Otherwise, this is a great read that includes some great advantages and disadvantages for those who are looking for a history feel with a touch of fantasy.

What I do recommend is picking up a copy of “The Powers that Be” for reference purposes and reading through it. Flavius provides an insight into how life was during that time and what makes this tale even more interesting. It is not a book that will work for everyone, but if you are a history buff who likes to read historical fiction/fantasy, then I would highly recommend it. For a very simple and clear story that is full of interesting details and well-written dialogues, there is not a better choice than “The Powers that be”. From start to finish, this is a must-read book for all readers.
