“The most outstanding tales have now been collated and translated from their digital platform into book form so that TTT fans can enjoy them offline.”

NO MAJOR SPOILERS

Micro fiction belongs to today’s world where people suffer from attention deficit disorder three quarters of the time – the world of twitter. Short short stories are by no means new, for example Hemingway’s telling tale about baby shoes, but the term flash or micro fiction is a 21st century coinage.

The stories have to have a beginning, middle and end arranged in any variation thereof so that the story comes through. Flash Fiction sites proliferated in the US and then it was the turn of the Indian twitterati.

Terribly Tiny Tales made itself a hit in the social media scenario by addressing itself to an audience with short attention spans and asking for people to submit to the site. The most outstanding tales have now been collated and translated from their digital platform into book form so that TTT fans can enjoy them offline.

There are also pieces of micro fiction by Penguin authors, making the collection 250 in all. Again because it is a collection one can pick and choose the stories, set the book aside and come back to it when the reader has the time and inclination. Occasionally some of them do sound like abortive haikus, but that’s the trouble with being short!
