“Free wifi, good coffee, great cause, wonderful volunteers!”

Housing Works Bookstore Cafe - New York

Housing Works Bookstore Cafe is a nonprofit bookstore, cafe and event space in downtown New York. All proceeds go directly to the store’s mission of fighting AIDS and homelessness. Amazingly, the store is staffed almost entirely by volunteers (and of course, avid booklovers), and all of the merchandise is donated.

The fully stocked cafe makes this a great place to meet friends, relax and shop the best books, movies and music selection. The bookstore is also an all around comfortable, inviting space. It also boasts an excellent place to get work and studying done, as there are desk spaces and free wifi. In terms of books, the store stocks a range of literary fiction, nonfiction, rare books and collectibles.

The building features two floors, and as well as the space being available for rental, the premises also host an interesting array of literary events.

So sit back, enjoy the consistently good coffee, relax and enjoy the books (and feel good doing it)!
