David Walliams is fast becoming one of Britain’s most popular children’s authors, leading the Christmas market for several years now. This November the author and comedian has two books out, a novel about an ice monster in Victorian times and a picture book about a baby penguin who wants to fly.
The Ice Monster is out in hardback on 6th November and is likely to be a Christmas bestseller. The novel is about a girl in Victorian London who hears about the arrival of a mysterious ice monster and is desperate to find out more. Walliams said he had a lot of fun writing the novel, which has a full cast including Queen Victoria herself.
Geronimo is a picture book and therefore aimed at smaller children and is about a baby penguin who is simply desperate to fly, despite the fact that penguins are flightless. Geronimo will be released on 15th November.
Walliams is really finding his place as a popular children’s author and has sold 13.9 million books to date. His 2017 bestseller Bad Dad was his first Christmas number one and has sold more than three quarters of a million copies. Walliams’ top selling title is still Gangsta Granny, which has sold £7.9 million worth to date.
