If you live in the UK you will know all abut the new £5 note; a completely different type of bank note, the fiver as we call it has already caused a furore with people selling notes with very low serial numbers and consecutive serials number for many times its face value, then vegetarians and vegans discovering that tallow (or animal fats) are used in the production of the currency.
Now we have a new reason to take a close look at our new notes as a fiver worth £20,000 might just be sitting in our purses and wallets.
The notes in question have an added extra in the form of a small engraving of Jane Austen on them which was added by artist Graham Short without the Bank of England’s knowledge and there have been just four of the notes released into circulation. With collectors desperate to snap up these supremely rare bank notes it is believed that each example could fetch up to £20,000 despite the video giving a paltry £12,500 as their valuation.
What are you waiting for, go check your wallets and purses, you just might have a fiver worth £20,000 sitting in there.
