Paulo Coelho is one of our favourite authors with his novel The Alchemist featuring in many of our follower generated polls and top tens. However the news today is not to do with a new title from Paulo but a musical collaboration.
Paulo has teamed up with internationally renowned artist Ute Lemper to produce an album based on Coelho’s writing which they have called The 9 Secrets and which was released on February 12th.
Described as a musical cycle, the album features words from Coelho’s novel Manuscript Found in Accra and Coelho himself appears on two of the tracks.
Talking about the collaboration, Lemper says,
“I read Paulo’s beautiful book on tour in Australia in the late summer of 2013, and a coat of peace enveloped me. It is a gift to the world, and if I can enhance it only a little bit with this third dimension of musical context, I am eternally grateful.”
Coelho is similarly complimentary,
“The music is the perfect combination for the words-it is the perfect marriage. I hope to never get a divorce!”
