Lynn Murphy is one of our favourite linguists as she so often speaks of the differences between British and American English. Murphy is an American in the UK and the Linguists Professor at Sussex University. She runs a blog ‘Separated by a Common Language’ and has thousands of Twitter followers, and now she’s released her first book on language.
We’ve talked about Lynn Murphy’s observations about British and American English on the page before and are big fans, this book is definitely going on my wish list and I suspect it may appeal to many of you too.
Lynne has been tweeting about the new book over the last few weeks, and about the accompanying website too.
The Prodigal Tongue’s website includes excerpts from the book, quizzes to test your US/UK English knowledge and media links covering the book…which offer more quizzes. (AmE) Take/(BrE) Have a look! https://t.co/JaRy6pwozb pic.twitter.com/yFXTtor2F1
