The whole world knows when International Women’s Day is and it’s a pretty widely marked event, but do you know when International Men’s Day is? The answer is ‘possibly not’, and sadly the most mentions online for ‘International Men’s Day’ is on the run up and during International Women’s Day, as trolls take over the Internet to try and shout women down for having their own day.
It’s a sad phenomenon, and for a decade Richard Herring has been answering these sexist trolls with a date, and that date is 19th November, International Men’s Day!
We can laugh and joke, make light of the trolls, or we can see what a serious issue this is, when men’s issues become about putting women down instead of bettering themselves. There are so many issues with toxic masculinity, for women and men, and in a new book Herring is to address some of these issues with his signature humour and insight.
Publishing in November is The Problem With Men: When is International Men’s Day – And Why it Matters. In the new book, Herring will expand on his Twitter discussions and tackle some of the big questions surrounding the kind of men who suffer from toxic masculinity, how it affects us all, and why they should talk about IMD in November, not during IWD!
As expected, The Problem with Men will release in November 2020, and you can pre-order now.
