Every year Neil Gaiman gets behind an event called All Hallows Read, encouraging people to give a scary book for Halloween. The event gains momentum every year and is absolutely huge, encouraging children to read, promoting literacy and giving a good alternative to sugary treats.
The event is supported by Harper Collins Children’s Books and as such, they set out suggested books each year. The list is huge with scary books for all ages. Each year comes with a handful of featured book across the age group, then a full reading list that you can match by age.
The featured reads for All Hallows Read 2016 are:
Eason Novel of the Year
If you want to know more about All Hallows Read, Neil explains it all here. And if you’re looking for inspiration for a specific age group, you can find the entire list here at the All Hallows Read website.
