Published in 2019, The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse has become a huge hit with both young and old readers alike. Featuring beautiful words and illustrations by its author Charlie Mackesy, the bok quickly became a bestseller and its messages of hope, courage, and self-care have been needed now more than ever in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. If you love the uplifting book, then you’ll be interested to learn that an audio version is set to be released, but it’s far from a standard audiobook.
As The Bookseller reports, Penguin Random House UK is teaming up with Bertelsmann music company BMG to release a vinyl record version of Mackesy’s touching tale. Presented as a black gatefold double vinyl with art by the book’s illustrator, as well as a music score by composer Max Richter and compositions by Isobel Waller-Bridge. Charmingly, it will also feature genuine wildlife sounds from rural England where Mackesy recorded the audiobook in Suffolk in a barn.
If this would be an excellent addition to your record collection, then you can purchase a copy on 11th June, ahead of Father’s Day. Certain retailers will; also have limited edition signed copies.
