Pigeon by Alys Conran has been named Wales’ Book of the Year 2017. The award given out by Literature Wales are a celebration of Wales’ very best writers and gives prizes across several categories including Welsh language works.
Alys Conran was awarded with three prizes at the awards ceremony including the people’s choice winner. Pigeon is a tale of childhood, growing up and the complications that come with that, and while it’s set on a Welsh hillside, it’s likely to speak to people the world over.
This is the final year that Literature Wales will give the prize as the responsibility for the prize will be transferred to the Wales Books Council who will award the prize from 2018.
