A thing belonging to a period other than the one which it exists in, particularly in a conspicuous fashion.
I love this word, I learned it at school and when I struggled to comprehend the definition my teacher said “Imagine an oil painting of Admiral Nelson wearing a digital watch. The watch would be the anachronism.”
