Word of the Day: Recumbentibus (noun)

By March 3, 2015Word of the Day

Recumbentibus (noun)

reck-um-ben-Ti-bus

This word stems from the word ‘recumbent’ which is used to suggest someone who is laying down, leaning or resting.

(1) A knock-out punch – either verbal of physical

It’s a word that I felt very fitting for the launch of For Reading Addicts, one that is defined as meaning ‘a knock-out punch or blow’. This can be either physical or verbal but more often than not refers to a verbal tirade.

Example sentence using the Word of the Day:

“As she screamed and shouted a torrent of obscentities at me, her parting words were certainly recumbentibus for my wounded ego.”
